Lehigh University Iacocca International Internship Program at BIOS

Students at Lehigh University have the opportunity to participate in the Iacocca International Internship Program which offers a 10-week internship at BIOS. Participants work on an individual research project under the mentorship of a BIOS scientist.

The internship is co-funded by the Iacocca International Internship Program and BIOS, and provides all accommodation and meals at BIOS, a contribution to research costs, and travel costs.

How to Apply

Prior to submitting an application, prospective interns are urged to contact BIOS mentors directly to discuss projects. Students who meet the eligibility requirements are asked to select up to three of the available projects in order of preference.

Applications are made directly through the Lehigh University Office of International Affairs. Full details of this internship, application procedure, and selection criteria can be found here.

This internship is open to Lehigh University students only but its existence does not exclude Lehigh students from consideration for other BIOS internship programs or courses.

Former Lehigh Iacocca International Interns

“While at BIOS I gained valuable hands-on lab experience while running my own research project, and my internship strengthened my problem solving skills. The community of scientists here is a great network to learn more about the environmental field, particularly marine sciences.” Sarah Wilhelm, 2023

“The BIOS internship provided me with real-world experience and improved my critical thinking skills, both of which are essential for my career. The internship also allowed me to broaden my social network by interacting with other interns working on various projects. Being chosen for this internship was a great honor.” Norman Zvenyika, 2022

“I really enjoyed my internship at BIOS. I learned a lot about remote sensing and coral reef systems outside of a classroom setting, with a virtual hands-on experience. This experience was very beneficial and everyone I have met at BIOS is super friendly and welcoming. I definitely recommend applying for an internship at BIOS.” Menglin Jiang, 2021
