The Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences Appoints Rosemarie McMahon as Director of Advancement

The Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences, a unit of the Julie Ann Wrigley Global Futures Laboratory at Arizona State University, is proud to announce the appointment of Rosemarie McMahon as its new Director of Advancement.

Building on the momentum of our integration into ASU, McMahon’s appointment comes at an exciting time as the institute accelerates its efforts to tackle global environmental challenges through innovative research, impactful partnerships, and hands-on educational programs.

McMahon holds an M.Sc. in Environmental Management from the Nicholas School of the Environment at Duke University, U.S., and a PhD in science communication and visualization from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zürich, Switzerland. Together with her key roles at international consulting and insurance firms, she developed expertise in environmental leadership, climate science, and sustainability. These expertise will be instrumental as ASU BIOS enters a new phase of growth, focusing on strategies to strengthen corporate and community partnerships and enhance donor engagement.

McMahon has made significant contributions to climate education and engagement. Her in-depth knowledge of Bermuda’s climate risk landscape will be invaluable as ASU BIOS strengthens its partnerships with both local and international stakeholders. In her new role, she will focus on expanding ASU BIOS's global network of supporters, cultivating new collaborations, and reinforcing relationships with key stakeholders. Her leadership will play a crucial role in raising awareness of ASU BIOS's mission and further establishing the institute as a global leader in sustainability, ocean and atmospheric sciences, and innovation.

“Rosemarie’s experience and leadership in both the corporate and scientific sectors make her a key addition to our team," said Bill Curry, president and chief executive of ASU BIOS. "Her vision and commitment to advancing sustainability will help shape the future of our institute."

McMahon’s appointment underscores ASU BIOS's commitment to translating research into actionable solutions, and to fostering strong partnerships that will drive meaningful impact on global environmental issues.
