Lionfish Tournament Draws More Than 600 People to BIOS

The 5th Annual Groundswell Lionfish Tournament took place at BIOS on July 18, and saw the tournament kicking off at sunup and boats heading in to the BIOS dock for the 3.00pm weigh-in. See story and photos at Bernews.com.

BIOS educator Kaitlin Baird speared a lionfish this month, one of 110 culled during the annual “Eat Em to Beat Em” Groundswell Lionfish Tournament held at BIOS. More than 600 people attended the July 18th event to learn about this invasive species and sample chef-prepared lionfish. Funds raised during the tournament supports lionfish research.
